Galileo (1564-1642) on `experimental mathematics' appropriated here for `simulation science' Welcome to the homepage of this DOE-sponsored project, a collaborative research effort by investigators at three DOE laboratories and six universities under the Scientific Discovery through Advanced Computing (SciDAC) Initiative of the Office of Science of the U.S. Department of Energy. The TOPS consortium will conduct algorithmic research on optimal solution methods for simulations based on partial differential equations, create software, and provide consulting on its use throughout the DOE national laboratory complex.
